Update 20th of October
The most recent government announcement has detailed specific safety protocols for our industry that will effect Swan Leisure as follows:
1. Mask wearing in communal areas will continue until further notice
2. Reduced numbers in the gym, pool and group fitness classes will continue to ensure physical distancing. Pay as you Go access for non-members will be restricted to off peak hours (see our timetable section for more information)..
3. The sauna and steam room will re-open on the 22nd of October as planned with protective measures in place. There will be a maximum of 3 people in the sauna and 4 in the steamroom allowed to designated seats. The rooms will be closed for sanitisation at quarter to the hour every hour.
4. The first floor changing rooms will re-open for members with a maximum capacity of 6 at a time. These changing rooms will be sanitized on a continuous basis throughout the day.
Our priority is safety for members, guests and staff and so we will also continue to operate with increased hygiene measures.
Our health and safety protocols
Please familiarise yourself with our Covid -19 protocols:
Our staff will not work if they're ill.
Every staff member will be required to stay at home should they have a cough, fever or any symptoms and will be required to self-quarantine for 14 days should they knowingly come into close contact with someone who has tested positive to COVID-19.
You must stay home if you're ill.
You are also expected to stay home if you have a cough, fever or any flu like symptoms. Should you knowingly come into close contact with someone who has tested positive to COVID-19, please self-quarantine and do not visit the centre for 14 days.
Our staff will stay behind the screen.
Our team are here to help you, from a safe distance. Perspex screens have been installed at reception for our members and staffs safety. Our team have been in training and are under instruction to not leave their desk, aside from when undertaking cleaning.
Attend your training session and then leave.
We ask that you come to train and then you leave. As much as we love a good chat with you all, during this time we need you to arrive, do your exercise and return to the safety of your home. We will all catch up for a chat over coffee when the time is safe to do so.
Use the sanistisers every time.
We have installed motion-activated hand sanitising stations throughout the centre so you can sanitise on arrival, during your sessions and on your way out. Please ensure you are using these at the start of your visit and at regular intervals throughout.
Practice social distancing.
Our staff will monitor the social distancing requirements in the centre. To help, please consider the current restrictions and keep to them so our staff don’t need to have an awkward conversation with you. We have spread out gym equipment to ensure there is 2m distance in between members.
Please wear facemasks when you arrive and keep it on until you are in the gym or swimming pool. When leaving please wear a face mask.
Try to bring your water from home.
We encourage you to bring fresh water in your bottle from home to avoid touching water fountains. We have placed anti bacterical screens on the water fountains and vending machines.
Our commitment to health and safety
We have made positive changes to our operations, all designed to keep our members, staff and community safe.
Here are all the changes you can expect:
High-grade disinfectant and more frequent cleaning
We have significantly increased our cleaning regime. This includes the use of disinfectant proven to kill viruses like COVID-19 in all areas of the facility. Special attention will be given to the cardio equipment, weights, pin-loaded machines and all high-touch surfaces after every use. The group fitness equipment will be cleaned between every use and further cleaning to studios will be done daily.
Disinfecting high-touch surfaces
Throughout every day the ramped up cleaning team will be disinfecting hand rails, lockers, bathrooms, sinks, toilets, benches, keyboards, computers and phones. We have invested in electrostatic sprayers.Electrostatics is the process of adding an electrical charge to the liquid droplets when they are sprayed. This makes the droplet electrically stronger than the surface or the item you are treating. Just like magnets, they are drawn to each other and attach when one surface is more positively charged than the other. This means that when we spray a surface with the electric charge it will envelop the surface and stick to it. There is no need to touch or wipe the surface. Cross contamination can be considerably reduced due to the touch less aspect of the sprayers. Surfaces will not be touched by cloths or human hands therefore won’t be moving bacteria from one place to another. Using the electrostatic sprayers will enable a quick and effective disinfection / sanitisation. This is because the electrostatic charge that’s applied, allows the solution to cover hidden and shadowed areas, but also enables you to cover a large area in a small amount of time due to the type of spray pattern the sprayer produces. It also uses eco-friendly products and less water for an environmentally friendly solution.
Giving you access to cleaning products
While we will be distinfecting all touch points throughout the day we have also created Sanitation Stations to ensure everyone has access to cleaning products to wipe down their equipment before and after use. Swimming pools that are correctly chlorinated are safe to use as the virus cannot survive in a well maintained swimming pool. We are also very lucky to have a state of the art UV filteration system to ensure a sparkling clean pool.
Our member and visitor expectations
We need you to do your part.
While you have expectations of what we will do to keep Swan Leisure safe, we also have expectations of you:
Practice social distancing when in the centre. If asked by our team to adjust your positioning please follow their guidance.
You must clean your hands at the start of every visit.
You must have a towel.
If you have a cough, fever, or symptoms of COVID-19, please do not come to the centre.
If you have tested positive for COVID-19, or have knowingly come into close contact with someone who has, please do not come to centre and self-quarantine for 14 days or tested negative for COVID-19.
If you have any concerns about coming to the centre to exercise, please stay home and stay safe. During this time you have unlimited suspension days and we look forward to seeing your friendly faces when you feel it’s safe for you to return.
Please be patient. While the new normal may be challenging, it is what is needed to ensure everyone is safe and comfortable at Swan Leisure.
As much as we love hugs and handshakes we are encouraging you to limit all person to person contact during this time. We are a community but right now, safety is the highest priority.
